history

In the latter half of the 1980s, I picked up a radio from a local jumble sale and started listening to the radio rather a lot. The Radio 1 chart was a highlight of my week, and I'd sit in my bedroom for three hours on a Sunday afternoon listening. At one point, I tried to write down the positions of every record each week, but got bored after the first four. Records, not weeks!

In late 1995, wearing a pair of very new shoes, I walked from college in to Watford and bought "Too Young To Die" by Saint Etienne. Catching the train home, I sat excitedly through the eleven minute journey, arrived home and immersed myself in Saint Etienne whilst nursing two very large and painful blisters.

The love with Saint Etienne was instant. I played the CD over and over.
